Summary/Abstract: The text analyzes contemporary homo consumens existence in the context of Heideggerian being. The author asks why such a human being, who is dizzy from pleasure here-and-now, should raise the questions about authenticity of existence. Such questions integrally stem out of the condition of unbearable lightness of a homo consumens. The article highlights synoptic coercion. When a human is hypnotized by a such ideology, he exists as das Man in the domain of a mediocrity, forgetting himself in the world of talkativeness and curiosity. The author underlines post-metaphysical conception of M. Heidegger – such a dynamic philosophy of Being allows itself to be connected with the dynamics of consumption. The challenge of being towards death in the context of consumption is highlighted. Heideggerian movement towards the dis-closedness of Being is revealed as the one in opposition to the movement of consumeristic never ending satisfaction. The effort to resist to the lightness of being is discussed in terms of openings that we find not only in the works of philosophers, but also in the art works.
