Summary/Abstract: There are atypical semantic neologisms in Allah n’est pas obligé by Ahmadou Kourouma, an Ivorian novelist. It is characterized by a redefinition of lexical items, which greatly contrasts with definitions provided by dictionaries. After a discussion of this phenomenon, called resémantisation contradictionnairique, the article shows Kourouma’s clear intention to satirize African leaders and the French lexicographical institution, respectively accused of stirring up civil wars and giving partial and biased definitions.
