Summary/Abstract: The main subject considered in this article is the idea of a “learning” region and if the Małopolskie Voivoidship has the features, which allow to consider it as a such. The analysis of the statistical data for the years 2007–2016 has led to the conclusion that such a term is legitimate with regard to the Małopolskie Voivodship. It is necessary, however, to take into consideration that it is the capital city of the region, Kraków, that is the main contributor, as the infrastructure supporting knowledge and innovativeness is concentrated mainly within the borders of the Kraków Metropolitan Area.
