Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to academic and popularizing activities of the professor of Bialystok University, dr hab Halina Twaranowicz in the general context of the development of Belarusian studies in Poland. There emerge the main stages of the academic career of Halina Twaranowicz (in Minsk, Moscow, Belgrade and Bialystok). The most important directions of her research are highlighted: Belarusian-Serbian literary relations, Belarusian literature during World War II, Belarusian émigré literature, Christian themes in literature, contemporary Belarusian literature in Poland. Her conclusions drawn after the analysis of ”Belavezha” writers’ work indicate that Halina Twaranowicz has found her particular niche: literary and aesthetic views of ”Belavezha” writers have been discussed in many articles, reviews and polemical notes in the press. The author of the article emphasizes the significance of the academic journal Białorutenistyka Białostocka. Halina Twaranowicz has been its editor since the first issue was published. Białorutenistyka Białostocka has become the most representative journal in the field of Belarusian literary studies not only in Poland but also in Belarus. Every year about thirty articles of both well-known and young researchers from Bialystok, Warsaw, Lublin, Minsk, Grodno, Homel, Witebsk, Polotsk and Baranovicze are published in it.
