Summary/Abstract: In 1949 the State Security detected the trail of an illegal group in the Pribram area which, besides other forms of resistance, focused mostly on the production and dissemination of illegal printed materials. The activities of this “subversive” group, later codenamed “Adolf Herzinger and co.”, close to an important pilgrimage site, would not be possible without the “ideological and moral support of Vatican minions”, at least from the viewpoint of the repressive machinery. In a totalitarian state, the task of incorporating Roman Catholic clergy into the group was not difficult or unusual for the investigators, and therefore was soon completed.
