Summary/Abstract: The second largest number of emigrants who abandoned the land of former Tsarist Russia and settled in interwar Czechoslovakia consisted of Ukrainian emigrants between 1919 – 1920. Systematic research in Czech and Slovak historiography which looked at problems associated with this emigrant community started at the beginning of the 1990s. The centres of this research was in the historical institutions; the Slav bibliotheca of the National Library in Prague and academic and specialised institutions in Prešov. Academic works produced included articles, scholarly papers and scientific studies, monographs, monothematic almanacs and books. These works were thematically focused on the research of associations and cultural activities of Ukrainian emigration in Czechoslovakia and in their art and social activities too. These works characterised the formation and activity of the most important supportive and educational Ukrainian organisations, referred to the activity of Ukrainian intelligentsia in different parts of Czechoslovakia, and introduce the lives and output of selected persons of the Ukrainian community who spent their lives in interwar Czechoslovakia. Despite the publication of many papers referring to the problems of the Ukrainian emigrant activities in Czechoslovakia, there are still a lot of topics which await serious research.
