Summary/Abstract: The article aims to problematize the way in which, in the context of late modern societies and the consumer culture that characterizes them, the development of certain ideologically constructed “distinctive places” in urban environments can be conceptualized not merely as effects of gentrification policies but also as physical spaces that in themselves reflect and ascertain the hierarchies that constitute the social space.
