Summary/Abstract: The present study explores the legal core of peremptory norms of international law and their effect on international treaties. The issue is studied by analyzing the applicable treaty law, the practice of international courts and studies of eminent scholars with respect to the cases when international treaties are terminated by the jus cogens norms.
