Summary/Abstract: I am discussing three strategies of fitting upererogation withinconsequentialist frameworks, namely Slote's (1984) and Scheffler's (1994). Mymain claim is that not only the utilitarian or consequentialist framework ismodified to accommodate supererogation, but also the concept of supererogationsuffers transformations in the process. It is therefore questionable if the theoriesdiscussed manage indeed to make room for the commonsensical moral intuitionscarried by the concept of supererogation.
