Summary/Abstract: In this article I focus on the implications of the capability approach toeradicate poverty and eliminate inequalities between human beings. Even if the existent social problems have been debated throughout time by numerousresearchers, different analyses having been made, concerning poor, vulnerablegroups, and marginalized communities, we must focus on the causes which leadto the occurrence of disadvantages. Beyond that, we must investigate a fewstrategies concerning social inclusion and reducing poverty that containsnumerous methods through which we can emphasize the development ofdisadvantaged people’s capabilities. My claim is that an increase of incomerepresents just one way of helping to improve the life of these persons, but wemust also take into consideration objectives such as the individual capability forself-development and the ability to function. To this matter, I will examine whatcapabilities an individual has or needs, to develop properly.
