Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the study is to examine and discuss the relationships among the ‘conservative-democracy’ discourse, which has been effective to set the political agenda in Turkey since 2002, and the concepts of ‘conservatism’ and ‘democracy’. Firstly, related concepts and theoretical approaches are covered. Thereafter, the overlapping and varying aspects of the ‘hybrid political identity’, generated by unification of the concepts of ‘conservatism’ and ‘democracy’, with the samples of ‘conservatism’, ‘Christian democracy’ and ‘populism are scrutinized. Subsequently, the questions to what extent the ‘conservative-democracy’ discourse could be ‘conservative’ and ‘democrat’ is tried to be clarified. The study concludes that, the ‘conservative-democracy’ discourse is tried to set eclectically, rather than seeking an ideology and in due course, will turn into a political attitude, which is centering the nationalist/ spiritual conservatism and/or Islamic vision.
