Summary/Abstract: The area of the newly liberated regions of Serbia at the beginning of the World War I represented the territory of a high level security risks. Frequent breaking in of the Albanian armed groups and Bulgarian Committees, as well as disloyalty of the significant part of the population to its country and on the other side a need to provide secure territory and undisturbed function of the main lines of supplying Serbian army, imposed a need to engage significant number of armed forces in these areas. Also, outside of the main theatre of the battle operations the training of the reserved armed forces was carried out. Units formatted from tax payers of that region are filled in within the operational part of the Serbian army. Everyday engagement of between 15 and 20% of total Serbian military effective outside the area of the battle operations, gives more than precise picture of the military importance of this area for the Kingdom of Serbia and its army and of the complicated security circumstances in the south of the country.
