Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, there are no economy sectors which are not affected by qualitative changes related to the conditions of informational society based on knowledge, learning, intellectual capital and innovation. This paper aims at raising awareness on the importance of human capital as a key factor in economic growth. The productive workforce is determined by different factors such as the level of employees’ qualification, the development of science, the volume and efficiency of material and immaterial investments. Thus, within the Strategy „Europe” 2020, a great importance is given to human capital and raising competitiveness through the correlation of education with the labour market and ensuring opportunities for future participation on a flexible labour market.
