Shadow banking system in the bank sector

Summary/Abstract: Dynamic development of shadow banking and its importance within present financial crisis leads to the analysis of the idea of functioning, potential and risks of the sector, including Polish financial market. This paper presents the concept of shadow banking in literature, theoretical basis of its functioning and selected risk issues. The impact of some Polish financial service bankruptcies (for instance: Amber Gold) and both system risks and regulatory gaps are presented.
