Summary/Abstract: In the beginning of İslam, in Arabia, since literacy was not very common, the number of literate women were very few. İslam, as a religion, enhances all the muslims, without any sexsual discrimination, to learn how to read and write. During the history of İslam, many women have learned how to write and occupied with calligraphy. Some women wrote boks,some taught at tekkes and madrasahs. Some wrote poetry collections, some calligrapher women learned how to write in various calligraphic styles, and wrote various books through which contributed significantly to Arab writing.
