Scapegoat in Time of Post-Truth

Summary/Abstract: This article introduces the principles of the mechanism of the scapegoat in its historical conditions and the new reality related to the appearance of the post-truth phenomenon. Differences between these realities have been presented in the context of issues related to the cognition and selection of data occurring within the framework of new media. On the basis of these considerations, a diagnosis of the political usefulness of the present mechanism and prospects for future development is formulated.
