Summary/Abstract: The beginning of the twentieth century brought new challenges for the Romanian political parties that emerged during the first years of the constitutional monarchy regime. This involved on their part changes in attitude, different approaches to the problems already known as agrarian and electoral issues, to name just two of the matters on the public agenda. In some moments, political leaders belonging to another generation would also come to the fore. Worthy to be followed for this period is the way in which different hierarchies were built and worked within political families. The reluctance to novelty, including among the new leaders who gradually make their appearance, can not be ignored, but on the contrary, it must be explained because visible hesitations have consequences in terms of political consistency in general, government in particular. Preoccupation of new leaders to identify additional legitimation mechanisms compared to those already used, but also to conquer the sympathy of new voters are arguments to look carefully at the Romanian political phenomenon from the beginning of the 20th century.
