Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to investigate the contributions of cultural background, talent and artistic style of Russian born French artist Erté (Romain de Tirtoff) on the changes on women’s fashion at the beginning of the 20th century Europe and the emergence of Art Deco industrial design and art movement. The contribution and pioneering role of the creativity of the artist on the 20th century women’s fashion and visual language of Art Deco movement are examined, on his fashion illustrations and set and costume designs for theatres, revues in Paris and USA.
