Summary/Abstract: Abdulhak Hamid is an important poet in Tanzimat Literature the most important reason for Abdulhak Hamid’s anxiety and worry is the thought of death. This thought of death appears as an expression of frailness in poet’s life. Everything about death is a tool that makes the life meaningless and dull. He has a feeling of trembling on death, because of losing his close twice, when he was abroad. Therefore rebellion is the most specific property for him against the thought of death. His wife Fatma Hanım’s death leads him to deep philosophical inquiries. He’s always in wonder confusion and chill during his life. But in the end, Hamid’s attitude against death will result whit the surrender to God.
