Summary/Abstract: The existing Polish translations of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, created in early 20th century, seem faulty nowadays, mainly due to the loss of many stylistic features of the original. One of the causes might be a generic absence: prose written in Polish at the time does not bear any similarity to Kipling’s manner. The articles points out the weaknesses of the two Polish translations of the story entitled The Cat That Walked by Himself. It concludes with the attempt at a new translation.
