Summary/Abstract: The article presents an interpretation of David Grossman’s novel See Under: Love in the context of alternativae history. Revealing the problems related to depicting the Holocaust, the story becomes a critique of our culture. It shows how four distinct parts are related, creating a vision of the dark sphere of our “I” hidden from the world: an alternative version of a story about ourselves is a sui generis reckoning with the concept of humanity dominant in our European community.
