Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the current state of research on public and urban archaeology in Transylvania, Romania. After presenting a short history of the notions in the Anglo-Saxon world, the article presents the paradigmatic shifts of both urban and public archaeology in this area of Europe, contextualizing the case studies of Alba Iulia, ClujNapoca, Sibiu and other cities of Transylvania in a broader theoretical and geographical context as well. The article emphasizes the importance of public archaeology in Transylvania and its perspectives based on the current methodology established by G. Moshenska.
