Summary/Abstract: Living as a continuously self-creating unity, the poieticalman outgrows himself not necessarily by knowing a reality, be it a natural or historicalone, but by experiencing the metaphysical tension. Within knowledge – rationalknowledge – he noetically integrates himself into the natural order, into somethingready done, but it also limits his possibilities, because knowledge or the noetical modeof being is permanently a split. Poetically, it creates himself within an organic unity, towhich it takes part and which accomplishes him, his natural (biological) being, hishistorical being, and his ability of knowing being continuously oriented towardsTranscendence
