Summary/Abstract: When the sculptures in the public are considered as a cultural trail to be transmitted to the future, the importance for the public spaces are increasing even more. Most of the examples covering the present are negative in relation to the environment. In this case, the acceptance of the sculptor's unwilling audience and the concern about the subject's intelligibility play a major role. However, well-established public space sculptures, such as socio-cultural acceptability, placement, social and physical aspects of the environment, can achieve the desired success. This study deals with factors that influence or provide the success of sculptures made for or site specific to the public spaces in relation to the environment. The relationship between the public sculpture and the environment has been assessed both in terms of social and physical environment.
