Summary/Abstract: From the moment of its existence, human beings have designed and produced various products to sustain their lives. These productions, for each discipline in their traditional process, over time, have been developed to the present day. 3D printing production offers a new perspective to both design and production by using today's technology. This article briefly discusses the historical development of 3D printing and gives several examples. The processes of this technology are explained by mentioning the possibilities and methods of 3D printing technology as well as the machines and materials used. In particular, researches in the field of ceramics have been addressed, thus the forming methods and machines used in 3D printing technology have been mentioned. Today, ceramics as a discipline with its distinctive traditional form of production can be adapted to 3D printing technology with up-todate applications and is open to new design and production proposals. Considering the possibilities of its future use, the article suggests that the usage of 3D printing in the field of ceramics to be integrated to the traditional methods and materials, offering a new perspective to the discipline.
