Summary/Abstract: One of the most prominent trends of demographic processes in Bulgaria is population aging. The authors reviews some contemporary gerontological and social problems which are the result of aging of population epidemiological evolution and transition,financial and rapid demographic shifts, prevalence of old people with polymorbidus or another degenerative disease. A lot of “risk factors“ for development of several chronicle-social that are characteristic for the late ontogenesis. They change the normal way of the processes of aging and speed them up. The science achievements of the time we are living ensure real possibilities for a longer live of the contemporary men.. The aging as a genetically determined process has formed as a part of the evolution of life and it is a suitable adaptation to new social mechanisms This is an active process of dis-organization of the organism and its different adaptive parts towards the changed living environment, as a new form of development. There are many prerequisites that are “risk factors“ for development of several chronicle-degenerative illness that are characteristic for the late ontogenesis. They change the normal way of the processes of aging and speed them up. The science achievements of the time we are living ensure real possibilities for a longer live of the contemporary men. The aging as a genetically determined process has formed as a part of the evolution of life and it is a suitable adaptation of the organism. This is an active process of transforming, reorganization of the organism and its different adaptive parts towards the changed living environment, as one of the forms of development. This new from of “evolution in time“ determines the successful regulation of the function of the metabolic processes in the old age. This is the functional expression of the age, as a biological process of a new, active reorganization and adaptation, independently of the active character of the enthropical processes in the way of the age evolution, new mechanisms of regulation adaptation are formed. The better mechanisms for neuro-humoral regulation of the organism, the better ability of fast change in its activity The authors reviews some contemporary socio-geriatric problems which are the result of aging of population – physiological, pathological and intermediate. It takes also geriatric specifically as a complex science situated on the border between biology and the social sciences. It points out that the visions of age norms cannot be qualitatively differentiated from the pathological, in older age.Special attention is paid to the need of looking closer into the problems of the social and psychological status of the older people in society. The need of general revitalization and functional recuperation of the old organism is also discussed.
