Summary/Abstract: The author deals with the legislative regulation and the actual execution of the bankruptcy procedures under Austria-Hungary and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes between 1919 and 1929, and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia (1930-1941). Bankruptcy and insolvency were serious economic and social evils and were treated as such under the financial and criminal legislation. The introduction and the execution of bankruptcy procedures were regulated by the Austrian bankruptcy order from 1868, with its 1897 and 1916 amendments, and by the Yugoslav bankruptcy law from 1929.
