LOCAL GOVERNMENT IMPLEMENTATIONS IN TRANSITION FROM E-GOVERNMENT TO M-GOVERNMENT IN TURKEY

Summary/Abstract: The information has become a significant asset for the society as a result of developments in information and communication technologies which even determine international power balances. The utilization of these technologies in public administration, i.e. the emergence of the e- government, has led to faster and higher quality in public services in lower costs than before. E- government approach is advancing in a decade of continuous technological developments and new channels for service providing are emerging. Electronic-government is not adequate; that reaching the government is not only passible to reach at any time but also from anywhere has become a vital issue. Improvements in wireless internet technologies enabling internet access via mobile phones and other personal digital accessories; fast spreading of those technologies; and society's pressure for improvements in e-government services has made the transitionpossiblefrom e-government to m-government on the agenda.
