Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Slovene historian Milica Kacin Wohinz (born in Cerkno, on October 12, 1930). Mrs Kacin Wohinz's research work focused on the history of the Slovene Primorska region (and Venezia Giulia region in Italy) in the period from the end of World War I to the beginning of World War II. In her publications (among them are three large monographs and numerous articles in Slovene and in particular in Italian) she dealt primarily with the status of the Slovene ethnic community during the period of Italian occupation (1918-1921) and also during the period after the Venezia Giulia region was made a part of the Kingdom of Italy. Italy's attitude to the Slovenes was shaped by Fascism and its denationalisation policy. Mrs Kacin Wohinz was the first researcher to use documents from Italian archives in her research work.
