Summary/Abstract: Kiki Smith is regarded as one of the prominent contemporary artists of our time as well as in her period. The artist is well known for her multi-faceted production of body representations and her artwork in different disciplines and with various materials. Much has been written about Smith, has been assessed from different aspects and most of all has been mentioned about her place in the feminist movement. This article tries to reveal the mythological elements in Smith’s works with various examples of her artworks. The mythological elements in these works will be evaluated in terms of the reproduction process which is one of the defining qualities of postmodern art. The aim of the paper is to understand the artist’s approach to mythology and to determine how mythological elements shape her art practice. In addition, the concepts that the artist deals with and their relation with the field of mythology will be discussed.
