Summary/Abstract: The Stafne Kist, also known as the Staphne cavity, Stafne defect, and lingual mandibular bone defect, was first described by Edward Stafne in 1942. Stafne Cyst is located on the lingual side of the mandible, anterior, posterior or ramus region. It is mostly seen as unilateral but rarely bilateral. The stafne cyst is round or oval shaped and varies in width 1-3 cm. The frequency of Stafne cysts in living populations is between 0,1-0,48%. The Stafne Kist, which is rarely encountered in archaeological societies, was determined to be 2.43% in Akgüney population dated to Late Roman-Byzantine period. In researches, Stafne cyst, which is more frequently observed in middle adult male subjects, was found in a young adult female individual in the Akgüney population.
