Th e Shift iness of Destiny or the Metamorphosis of One Relationship – Milan Kašanin and Vasa Stajić

Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the literary and notional contacts and inducements between Milan Kašanin and Vasa Stajić. The reading of their correspondence and printed papers will point to the fact that the search for the interconnections between Vasa Stajić and Milan Kašanin leads to the story about literary distinctions, different conceptions of literature, and, finally, to the story about “a pupil who outgrew his teacher” and digressed from him. The analysis of Stajić and Kašanin papers published in the magazine Letopis Matice srpske, with their views on the post-war literature in Vojvodina, depicts a divergence embedded in different evaluations of the Serbian literature.
