Summary/Abstract: Since natural persons should have control of their own personal data, they can object at any time to the processing. However there are circumstances were the right to object does not lead to termination of personal data processing. Therefore this article aims to analyse the data subject's right to oppose the personal data processing. We will take into account both the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation and the guidelines issued by Article 29 Data Protection Working Party and endorsed by the European Data Protection Board, without overlooking the Handbook on European data protection law issued by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights andthe Council of Europe.
