Summary/Abstract: The bread making has an important place in the culinary culture of the societies. People have made observations to produce delicious and quality bread using the practical methods, they have tested the method of baking bread and the tools they used with different materials. Thus, they have developed technologies with observations and experimentations and used the most efficient ones of the methods they have identified. In this context, pilekis, which are baking materials consist of natural materials such as stone and terra-cotta, have reached the present day with thousands of years of use in the Turkish culinary culture. In this research, the usage culture of the Pilekis, which are made of terra-cotta, in Ardahan Sulakyurt village is examined. Although the tradition of baking bread in plekis in the village still exists, it is observed in the research that the pleki producing is fading away. With the field research, it is aimed to record the information about the tradition of bread baking in the terra-cotta pleki in the region.
