Summary/Abstract: Since the advent of smartphone, education has been changing constantly. At educational institutions, students use smartphones as a powerful learning tool. However, many universities in Vietnam do not allow students to use smartphones in the classroom for fear that students may be distracted by video games and other entertainment applications. The fact is that students are not instructed on how to use smartphones effectively in the classroom. Nowadays, the context of technological development and globalization allows students to study in an open space and open education. That means teaching and learning is not restricted to the classroom or schools with blackboards, and teachers and students have freedom to choose the space, time and means of teaching and methods of learning to achieve learning outcomes. Therefore, this research aims to expand the learning space for students at Hung Yen University of Technical Education by use of smartphone and focuses on addressing the following questions:1) Can smartphone be used as a means of learning or not? 2) How to effectively use smartphone in the classroom? (Instuction student on using smartphone in their study, how to control student's behaviors, classroom organization, assessment, student response). To conduct this research, we designed lessons based on mobile applications. Pilot on 02 students groups in the 3rd year at Hung Yen University of Technology and Education to assess the impact of the organization of teaching with smart phones to the excitement, the active learning and the response of students and teachers. We used the method of classroom observation, surveys, direct interviews with students and lecturers on the test results. On that basis, propose recommendations on lesson design and organize teaching with smart phones in Hung Yen University of Technology and Education.
