Summary/Abstract: European Union law is an autonomous legal system consisting, according to the doctrine of primary and secondary law, governing the functioning of the European Union as a whole and closely related to the international law and the legal systems of the Member States. Among the most important acts of primary law are the three founding treaties for the European Communities.
