Summary/Abstract: Antalya is one of the ancient cities of Turkey. Antalya was established with the kingdom of Pergamon, remained under the Roman rule, and became a favourite city of the Seljuks, Ottoman and Republican Turkey. In all periods, the port of Antalya was linked to the Middle East through the port of Alexandria and was opened to Europe with the Venetian, Genoese, and other merchants. The first population data of Antalya dates to the year 1530. At that time, the Muslim population was 3284, non-Muslim 582, total 3866. By the year 2017, it has a population of over 2 million people. There were six districts within Teke Sanjak and Antalya was the central district. In later periods, its status having changed it became a province. During the Ottoman period, Muslims, and the Greek and Jewish non-Muslims had long lived together as Ottoman subjects.
