DOES PATH DEPENDENCE LEAD TO ORGANIZATIONAL VANISH? AN ASSESSMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF EXAMPLES OF DIFFERENT SECTORS

Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this study is to determine whether or not organizations’ strategies or business models which have been pursued by organizations through their historical processes and has become a static path, play roles in organization’s death. In this framework the research question of this study can be expressed as; “Does path dependence leads to death of organizations?” To achieve purpose of the study we use a mixed method that has been formed with case studies and interviews and in this context we analyzed some closed organizations from Canakkale region. Eventually it has been determined that organizations died due to some reasons such as business, organization and/or management model and supply chains that have been created by organizations as paths through their historical process via financial or not investment.
