Summary/Abstract: Aim: Williams syndrome is a rare, multi-system, genetically conditioned disorder, occurring equally at girls and boys around the world regardless of the ethnic group. The aim of the work is the presentation of the meaning of interdisciplinary care and support in the development of a child with the Williams syndrome. Methods: Interdisciplinary approach to care and support of development of a child with the Williams syndrome. Results: Williams syndrome manifests itself in characteristic physical (dysmorphic facial features), medical (cardiovascular), cognitive (moderate mental retardation) and social-emotional disorders. The child should be under the care of different types of doctors and medical specialists, a speech therapist, psychologist and physiotherapist. Conclusions: Therapy must include improving motor activity, sensory and cognitive functions, exercises in interpersonal communication and social behavior. Good cooperation between specialists is essential in the proper planning and conducting of therapy.
