Summary/Abstract: Integrated Product Policy is a pro-ecological initiative of the European Union within the scope of sustainable production and consumption aiming at close connection between widely understood product policy and environmental protection across the whole product life cycle. One important tool supporting the implementation of Integrated Product Policy is green public procurement, which takes into consideration environmental criteria in tender procedures for goods and services. The inclusion of ecological requirements in the purchases made by public entities helps to minimise the adverse environmental impact of products and services. This paper presents in detail the problem of green public procurement and its role in the Integrated Product Policy implementation process, legislation and plans and programmes related to green public procurement being completed in the EU and Poland, environmental criteria used in public procurement procedures, as well as an assessment of the public procurement market in Poland.
