Transformation of the Local Government and Debt Consolidation

Summary/Abstract: In the early 1990s, the Hungarian local government system has built on the most modern characteristics of the era, but with the continuous change of the model, it was increasingly drifting to the edge of ineffectiveness. The purpose of this study is to introduce the changes in the localgovernment system since 2011 along with the typical difficulties of the management. The main causes of indebtedness as well as the realised debt consolidation and its effects on the functioning of local governments are also presented.
