Summary/Abstract: Autism spectrum disorders represent difficult medical condition, which is characterized by deficits in communication, social interaction and specific repetitive patterns of behaviour. In many cases autism spectrum disorders are associated with further impairments, such as intellectual or motor impairment, severe problem behaviour, and mental disorders. Therefore, the education of students with autism spectrum disorders requires effective educational strategies, which focus on addressing social communication, teaching functional skills and socially significant behaviour to achieve educational objectives. In the theoretical framework of the study, authors analyse applied behaviour analysis as a research-based approach in education of students with autism spectrum disorders, which is still in implementing in Slovakia. Aim of the research was to examine the use of behavioural intervention and applied behaviour analysis in the education of students with autism spectrum disorders in selected school. Research findings shown that the most of the participants of the study are implementing structure teaching based on TEACCH program in education of students with autism spectrum disorders, up to 81, 3 % of the participants. Behavioural interventions based on applied behaviour analysis are utilized by only 12, 5 % of participants, with 82, 5 % of participants reporting an interest in further education in applied behaviour analysis.
