MEMORIES OF THE EVENTS FROM THE FIRST WORLD WAR AND THE PORTRAITS OF CONTEMPORARIES FROM THE NOTES BY MILOŠ N. ĐORIĆ

Summary/Abstract: Miloš N. Đorić (1893-1975) was a doctor and a writer who dedicated most of his literary opus, especially his unpublished texts preserved in his manuscript legacy, to the events concerning the First World War. His numerous notes are a testimony both on his own trouble during the epidemics of typhoid fever, the retreat and his stay on Corfu and Vid, as well as on his contemporaries who were friends and acquaintances of Đorić’s. His memories portray, among others, the characters of Stanislav Vinaver, Proka Jovkić – Nestor Žučni and surely Milutin Bojić, and reveal as unknown testimonies on interesting and unknown details from their lives, known only by those who experienced those times troublesome and unfortunate for an entire nation and found strength and sense in war unrest to endure and continue.
