Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to determine the size of the relations between the tourism stakeholders of Burdur and Isparta provinces, which are two important cities of the Region of Lakes, in the context of effective governance. Qualitative research method was used for the purpose of the study. Data were collected through semi-structured interview form, participant observation, written and visual documents related to the particular region and analyzed through inductive content analysis. Findings of the study show that though the region has a lot of tourism advantages, these advantages are not utilized adequately. Besides, it is argued that the region is unable to provide effective destination governance due to the deficiencies on the sub and super structure of tourism, promotion and marketing, public opinion, investment and projects, relationship of the stakeholders. Therefore, it has been found that interstakeholder relations need to be increased in terms of planning, leadership, coordination, cooperation, communication, participation in decisions, information sharing and commitment to ensure effective destination governance in the region and development of local tourism.
