Summary/Abstract: In the elections for the Italian House of Commons in 1921 four Slovenes in the Gorizia province and one Croat in Istria were elected. The author traces their struggle for cultural and economic minority rights. She establishes that their efforts failed not only because of the fierce opposition of the fascists but also because of the ideological differences within the Slovene deputy group.
