Summary/Abstract: While the Czech resistance began to spontaneously take shape up from the first days of the occupation of the remaining parts of the Czech lands on 15 March 1939, the situation outside the country was far more complex. On the same day, Edvard Benes made a speech in Pilsner Park, Chicago at a great rally of the Czech expatriate community and announced the struggle to restore the Czechoslovak state; however, the road to fulfil this proclamation was a long one.
