Summary/Abstract: This article provides a deeper insight into the importance and share of the icon painting heritage of the Old Believers' icon painter Ivan Ipatievich Mikhailov (1893-1993) in the frame of the icon painting tradition of the 20th century. The Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin in Vilnius, being the main spiritual centre of the Old Believers in modern Lithuania, was once, in the 1920s-1930s (Wilno) the centre of the Pomorian Old Believer in Poland. There is the richest collection of Mikhailov’ icons from his different working periods in Lithuania and abroad (81 icons) in the Protection Church in Vilnius. As shows our analyses of this collection, 40 icons belong to on the mature period of Mikhailov creation in the 1930s-1950s. Many of these icons belong to the high peak of Mikhailov creation.
