Summary/Abstract: The majority of the world's population lives in urban areas. In these areas, many different activities come together, such as living, working, and recreation, and the need for travel is linked to this. Combining these activities places greater pressure on the sustainable mobility, safety, and liveability of the cities and their environment, leading to complex problems. The one that stands out most is safety in urban areas. Existing trends estimate that road traffic will become the fifth leading cause of death by 2030, unless drastic measures are taken. Road traffic accidents are the leading cause of mortality for young people aged 15 to 29. Injuries caused by road traffic have a disproportionate impact on vulnerable groups of transport users. More than half of people killed in traffic accidents are people aged 15 to 44 years. It is important to point out that the most vulnerable group of traffic participants are motorcyclists. Of the total number of deaths caused by traffic accidents, 22% are among pedestrians, 4% with bicyclists and 23% among motorcyclists. Prevention of injuries caused by road traffic must include a wide range of activities, such as road infrastructure development and management, supply of safer vehicles, law enforcement, mobility planning and environmental planning. Through this research, special attention will be paid to safer mobility and to all the activities that contribute to it.
