Left-wing and Right-wing Radicalism in the Current Italian Party System

Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the present situation of Italian party system and characterises the influence of left-wing and Right radicalism on political dynamics between parties and movements. In the first part the author presents the evolution of Italian party system from the beginning of the monarchical state to the development of republican institutions. In the second part the author analyses the left-wing and Right radical parties and movements in Italy in the context of the present Italian politics. The final part defines the political relevance of radicalism in the functionnig of the new bipolar dynamics centre-left/centre-right.
