It stresses the importance of the link between economic development and security. The first part of the study is focused on the economic shifts in Russia and their impact on the country's political and geopolitical aspirations. The second part deals with the relationship between Germany and Russia in the period of the chancellor G. Schroeder and the president V. Putin as an example of the dynamics in bilateral relations in the Russian transition period.
